I Dauyu is a Japanese street photographer based in Tokyo, and if you have spent any time looking through Japanese street photography on Instagram, there is a good chance you have come across his work. Rainy days, reflections and especially red umbrellas have become a big part of the style he’s known for. Born in Saitama in 1997, he first got interested in photography while he was at university, partly through the influence of friends around him. Like a lot of photographers today, he didn’t start with an expensive camera setup either. His first step into photography was simply shooting with an iPhone before eventually moving over to dedicated cameras, with Sony gear becoming a regular part of his setup. Tokyo obviously gives a street photographer an incredible amount to work with, but what I like about i_dauyu’s photography is that he doesn’t try to show everything at once. His compositions are usually pretty clean and controlled. Instead of filling the frame with dozens of people, signs, cars, and lights, he’ll often find one strong subject and build the photo around that. And rain is a huge part of his work. While plenty of photographers would rather stay home when the weather turns bad, those are often exactly the conditions that make his photography interesting. Wet streets create reflections, puddles pick up the colors of the city, and umbrellas give him simple shapes that immediately stand out against the background. The red umbrella in particular has almost become a signature in his work. Against the softer blues, greys, and darker tones of a rainy Tokyo street, that little bit of red immediately gives your eye somewhere to go. Sometimes the person carrying it is actually tiny within the frame, but because of the color contrast, they’re still clearly the subject. It’s a really simple idea, but he uses it very well. You’ll also see plenty of reflections throughout his work. Puddles, wet pavement, glass, and other reflective surfaces allow him to take otherwise normal streets and make the composition much more interesting. Sometimes he’ll shoot very low to the ground to bring a puddle into the foreground, while other times the reflection is more subtle and simply adds another layer to the scene. Snow is another condition he makes great use of. Tokyo under snow already looks completely different, but his clean approach works particularly well with it. The brighter surroundings naturally simplify the scene, while people, umbrellas, buildings, and street details stand out much more clearly against all that white. He also photographs quite a bit at night, where Tokyo’s artificial lighting gives him another different look to work with. Shop windows, streetlights, signs, and reflections across wet pavement create little pockets of color without necessarily making the photo feel overly busy. I Dauyu shares his street photography regularly on Instagram under @ i_dauyu, so if you’re into Japanese street photography, particularly the quieter and more atmospheric side of it, I Dauyu is definitely worth checking out. -- #photography #toyko #streetphotography #photographylovers #Japan #photo

Marcus Cederberg is a Swedish photographer known for his clean, colorful minimalist images. He lives in central Sweden, works full-time as an IT manager, and shoots as a hobby, but his work has reached a pretty big audience, with hundreds of thousands of followers on Instagram (@marcuscederberg). His style is all about simplicity. He uses strong colors, clear shapes, and a lot of negative space to create calm, graphic photos that feel almost like paintings. You’ll see a lot of architecture, windows, walls, small details against big empty areas, and compositions that feel quiet and balanced. The idea is “less is more”, he tries to strip things down so the viewer can focus on just a few elements and still feel something. Marcus grew up around photography (his father was a photographer and journalist), and he really took off after posting a simple shot of orange sunglasses against a green wall. Instagram featured him early on, and from there his minimal style found a big audience. He’s exhibited in places like Paris, New York, Stockholm, and is represented at Fotografiska, the Swedish Museum of Photography. He travels a fair bit and often shoots in warmer, more colorful locations that contrast with the Swedish climate he grew up in. Whether he’s using a camera or just his phone, the photos stay consistent. Bright, simple, and calming. If you like minimalist photography with strong color and clean compositions Marcus’s work is a really nice one to follow. His feed is full of that quiet, colorful simplicity. -- #photography #minimalism #photographer #photographylovers #photographyeveryday #minimal #minimalist #photographyart

Yuki Adachi (aka kingsgraph_) is a Tokyo photographer known for night and rainy-street photos that very much lean into a real-life cyberpunk look with neon, wet pavement, reflections, and the dense after-hours Tokyo atmosphere. No CGI, not a video game, just the city as it actually looks when the lights come on and it starts raining. He shoots neighbourhoods like Shinjuku, Shimbashi, Kanda, Kichijoji, and Asakusa. Pretty much all of his work is in colour: red signs, glowing shop fronts, umbrellas, salarymen, izakaya streets. Rain is a big part of it. Water on the ground turns the neon into something cinematic, and he likes going back to the same spots over and over, capturing the same streets under different lights and conditions. He uses a Sony α7 IV and edits in Lightroom. The photos feel polished but still grounded in real streets, not sci-fi fantasy so much as “Tokyo already looks like this if you walk it at night.” He has shown work in exhibitions around that idea, including a Tokyo cyberpunk show, and he sells prints and goods. He also writes about walking and shooting specific neighbourhoods on his site, yuki-adachi.com. His Instagram is @kingsgraph_ ( https://www.instagram.com/kingsgraph_?stkn=MXN4OXlqbmdmMzRmeg== ). If you like Japanese night photography with neon, rain, and a strong sense of place, his feed is an easy one to get lost in, highly recommended. Tokyo looks much louder and more electric through his camera. -- Don't forget to subscribe to our free photography magazine ;) https://www.theglobalphotographycommunity.com/free-magazine -- #photography #photographylovers #tokyo #cyberpunk #japan #streetphotography #streetphotographers #photographers

Ashraful Arefin is a photographer and visual storyteller from Dhaka, Bangladesh, and his travel photography has a style that’s pretty easy to recognize. There’s usually beautiful light, lots of warm color, interesting people, and this slightly cinematic atmosphere that makes even very normal everyday scenes feel special. His creative background actually started before photography. Ashraful studied fine arts and graphic design at the University of Dhaka, and you can definitely see some of that in the way he works today. He’s very aware of color, balance, shapes, and where everything sits inside the frame. Around 2013, he also started a 365 photography project, basically challenging himself to create something every single day. That gave him a lot of room to experiment and eventually helped him develop the style we know him for today. Travel photography is a big part of his work, and he is very interested in the everyday live happening around them. It could be someone riding a bicycle down a quiet street, a busy local market, an old building, a street vendor, or simply a person walking through a really nice patch of light. They’re often very normal moments, but the way he photographs them makes you stop and look. You can see that especially in his work from Bangladesh. Dhaka is obviously a very busy city, and there’s constantly something happening. You have rickshaws, markets, colorful shops, old architecture, crowds, street vendors, and people moving in every direction. Instead of trying to avoid all of that chaos, Ashraful finds smaller moments within it and somehow manages to turn them into really clean compositions. Light is a big part of how he does this. He often shoots when the sun is lower and uses backlight, long shadows, haze, and little pockets of sunlight to make his subjects stand out. Sometimes it’s really just about finding a good background, noticing where the light is falling, and then waiting for the right person to walk into the frame. Color is just as important. You’ll see a lot of warm oranges, yellows, greens, and earthy tones throughout his work. His photos can almost look like paintings sometimes, and that’s probably where his fine-art and graphic-design background comes through the most. He’s also not afraid of editing his photos quite heavily when it suits the scene. For him, editing is part of the creative process. He adjusts the colors, controls the light and shadows, and guides your attention toward the parts of the photo that actually matter. But underneath all of that editing and beautiful color, there are still real places and real everyday moments. People are especially important in his travel work. Someone walking through a street might give the whole scene a sense of scale. A cyclist can add movement. A street vendor can tell you something about everyday life in that particular place. These little human elements are often what make his photos feel like travel photography rather than simply beautiful cityscapes. And I think there’s a good lesson in his work for anyone who shoots while travelling. You really don’t have to spend the entire trip going after famous viewpoints and landmarks. Sometimes the better photo is happening two streets away, where nobody else is pointing a camera. Beyond his personal travel and street photography, Ashraful has also worked with organizations including UNICEF and Gavi, using photography to tell stories around healthcare, education, and children’s welfare. He also shares quite a lot of his process through workshops and online content, particularly when it comes to Lightroom and editing. Luke Takayama is a fine-art street photographer based in Toronto, Canada, known for his black-and-white photos of city life. He shoots mainly with a Sony A7R5 and a Leica M11 Monochrome, and his work has the classic monochrome street look with very strong contrast, silhouettes, geometry, and a lot of attention to light and shadow. His photos often feel quiet and a bit cinematic. You’ll see lone people walking against big buildings, reflections in glass or puddles, snowy Toronto streets, and moments where light cuts across the city and suddenly everything looks more dramatic. He likes using negative space and simple compositions so the frame doesn’t feel crowded. A lot of his shots have the “one person in a big space” vibe that makes the city feel both impressive and a little lonely at times. Luke posts regularly on Instagram (@ luketakayama) and gets featured a lot in black-and-white and street photography communities (definitely go check him out). If you like black-and-white street photography with strong contrast and a calm, slightly moody feel, Luke’s work is worth checking out. It’s the kind of photography that makes everyday city scenes feel a little more timeless and considered. Toronto looks pretty different through his lens and his fine-art approach is just the cherry on top. Is he truly the world's best fine-art street photographer though? Darren Sacks has developed a style that is instantly recognizable. Based in London, he creates colorful street photos that blur the line between documentary photography and abstract art. His work is full of reflections, shadows, bold colors, and carefully layered compositions that make even the busiest streets feel calm and beautifully organized. Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, Darren later moved to London, where he found endless inspiration in areas like Soho, Chinatown, and Green Park. These familiar locations have become the backdrop for many of his best-known photos, but thanks to the way he sees light and composition, they never feel ordinary. One of the first things you’ll notice about his photography is that people are rarely shown clearly. Faces are often hidden behind reflections, lost in shadows, or partially obscured by windows, signs, and passing objects. Instead of focusing on individual people, Darren creates scenes where every element works together. Light, color, architecture, reflections, and human movement all become part of a carefully balanced composition. The result feels almost painterly while still capturing genuine moments from everyday life. His background in graphic design and art direction is easy to spot in the way he photographs. Rather than simply reacting to whatever happens in front of him, he spends time observing a scene, waiting for the right person, the right light, or the perfect reflection to complete the frame. Every photo feels carefully considered without ever looking staged. Many photographers see echoes of Saul Leiter in Darren’s work, and it’s not hard to understand why. Like Leiter, he has a talent for finding beauty in everyday moments through reflections, layers, rich color, and subtle storytelling. But his work never feels like a copy. Over the years, he’s developed a style that’s very much his own. He has worked with several camera systems over the years, including Fujifilm and Sony, and often prefers slightly longer focal lengths. That choice helps compress the scene, bringing different layers closer together and creating the rich depth that has become one of his trademarks. Although he took photography seriously later in life, Darren has built a strong international reputation. His work has been exhibited in cities including Paris, Tokyo, Hamburg, and Amsterdam, and his photos continue to inspire street photographers around the world. If you enjoy street photography that’s colorful, layered, and a little more abstract than traditional street work, Darren Sacks is definitely someone worth following (@ sacks on Instagram) His photos are proof that you don’t need dramatic locations to create something memorable. With patience, careful observation, and a great eye for light, he transforms everyday streets into photos that invite you to stop and look a little longer. -- Don't forget to subscribe to our free photography magazine ;) https://www.theglobalphotographycommunity.com/free-magazine -- #photography #abstract #London #streetphotography #abstractart #photographer #photographers #photoediting #colorphotography

Jorge Suárez Reinaldo is a photographer whose work sits somewhere between architecture, landscape, cityscape, and fine-art photography. A lot of his best-known photos are in black and white, and there is a very clear style running through them with strong geometry, dramatic light, big structures, plenty of negative space, and compositions that feel very clean without being too perfect. Architecture is where that approach stands out the most. Jorge does not necessarily photograph a building just to show what it looks like. He looks for interesting pieces within it. A staircase, a concrete curve, repeating windows, the underside of a bridge, or a single line running across a structure. People sometimes appear in these scenes as well, but they are often tiny compared with the architecture around them. A person walking beneath a massive building immediately gives you a sense of scale, while also making the structure feel even more imposing. Black and white works particularly well with the way he sees these scenes. Once the color disappears, you’re paying much more attention to the actual structure of the photo. Lines become stronger, shadows become graphic elements, and differences between bright concrete and a dark sky suddenly become much more noticeable. He is also very good at working with dramatic skies. Clouds, long exposures, and darker tones often give his architectural photos a very different atmosphere. But then there’s another side to his photography that’s almost the complete opposite, macro. Jorge has a separate account, @ jorgesuarez_macro (on instagram), where the buildings and cityscapes disappear and you’re looking at insects, tiny details, and close-up textures. It is a very different scale, but interestingly, you can still see the same photographer behind it. He’s still looking for shape, structure, clean backgrounds, interesting light, and small details. The subject might have gone from a big piece of architecture to a small insect, but that attention to composition stays very similar. His main Instagram account, @ jorgesuarezreinaldo (also on Instagram), keeps things quite focused. There’s a lot of monochrome work, strong geometry, architecture, landscapes, and carefully edited photos. If you’re into quieter fine-art photography, especially black-and-white architecture, Jorge Suárez Reinaldo is definitely worth checking out! -- Don't forget to subscribe to our free photography magazine ;) https://www.theglobalphotographycommunity.com/free-magazine -- #photography #europe #architecture #photographer #architecturedesign #architecturephotography #photographylover #spain #architecturelovers

Jorge Chagas is a street photographer from Lisbon, Portugal. He photographs his hometown with a strong feel for what he calls 'Lisbon light', sharp Lisbon sunbeams, long shadows, light that brings out Lisbon's beautiful colours. He got more serious about photography at university, studying it as part of his course after already being interested for years. Street photography was a natural fit. He likes cities, movement, and the rhythm of daily life. Lisbon isn’t just a backdrop for him. He grew up there, and photographing it feels personal with the streets, the light, the people passing through. His photos often have a cinematic look. You’ll see people walking through patches of sunlight, scenes shot through windows, strong shadows, and compositions that feel considered without looking stiff. He works in both color and black and white. Sometimes he keeps the warm Lisbon colour; other times he strips it away so the light and shapes stand out more. Jorge has shown work in exhibitions and published a book called A Luz de Lisboa (The Light of Lisbon), which is pretty much what his photography is about, the light of his city and the people moving through it. You can find him on Instagram at @jorgemchagas. If you like street photography with a strong sense of place, good light, and filmic Lisbon atmosphere, his work is worth a look. -- Don't forget to subscribe to our free photography magazine: https://www.theglobalphotographycommunity.com/free-magazine -- #photography #lisbon #streetphotography #photographers #photographylovers #lisboa #portugal #photographer

MKAPTURED is the work of Mike, a London-based photographer known for creative street&urban photography, really anything from architecture, cityscapes, long exposures, and street scenes with a fine-art edge to it. He came to photography after years as a graphic designer (including freelance work for music labels), which shows in the way he builds frames, symmetry, leading lines, reflections, and a very controlled look. He started shooting more seriously around 2021 and built a big following pretty quickly on Instagram (@mkaptured.uk). He’s won multiple awards, including Photographer of the Year with The Society of Photographers. His photos of London often look cinematic with deep tones, strong contrast, landmarks like St Paul’s, Tower Bridge, and the South Bank treated more like creative graphic compositions and not tourist shots. He works in both color and black and white, and he’s big on low light and long exposure. The editing is part of the style: polished, atmospheric, and consistent. Mike also runs 1:1 workshops around London covering street, architecture, and long exposure (you can check it out here: https://mkaptured.com/workshops/ ) and he sells prints and Lightroom presets through https://mkaptured.com .
